Dongbei Special Steel targets 5 million mt crude steel output by 2010

By the end of its 11th five-year plan (2010), Dongbei Special Steel will produce over 5 million mt of crude steel and 4 million mt of finished steel.

Currently, the focus of the company is on the modernization of its Dalian base. The producer's Dalian base is expected to have a capacity of 1.19 million mt of special crude steel and 1.08 million mt of special finished steel, with five modern production lines for special steel products.

Dongbei Special Steel Group was formed on September 23, 2004 by three leading state-owned special steel companies in northeast China including Dalian Iron and Steel Group, Fushun Special Steel Group and Benman Special Steel Group. Dongbei Special Steel Group is China's largest special steel production and research base, focusing on high-class, high-grade and high value-added special steel.
