Details issued relating to Masteel's steel capacity replacement

The Industry and Information Technology Commission of China's Anhui Province has issued the capacity replacement details relating to two 100 mt electric furnaces due to be built by Anhui Province-based Chinese steelmaker Maanshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd (Masteel) and the planned elimination of two 50 mt converters. Accordingly, the new furnaces will have a combined annual steelmaking capacity of 1.50 million mt, with construction starting in June 2020 and due to be completed in December 2022. These furnaces will replace the two converters owned by Masteel which have an annual steelmaking capacity of 1.52 million mt, with demolition of these converters starting in June 2022 and due to be completed in December 2022.
