Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply a new 325 mm round section for the existing four-strand round bloom caster at France-based pipe manufacturer Vallourec’s Saint-Saulve mill in France.

According to the supply contract, Danieli will supply the new moulds and related auxiliary equipment, expanding the product range and making the plant available to produce bars for the automotive industry as well. The upgrade project will be handled on fast track basis in order to achieve the challenging target to restart the caster in February 2017.

The existing four-strand continuous caster of the mill installed by Danieli in 2007 produces API grades, special steels, and high-chromium alloys. The original casting section range was from 180 mm to 310 mm in diameter.
