CSC’s steel production volume drops in Jan-Sept

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in September this year its steel production volume totaled 614,584 metric tons, decreasing by eight percent compared to the previous month and down 11.6 percent year on year. In September, CSC's steel product sales volume amounted to 655,287 metric tons, down 8.5 percent compared to August this year and decreasing by 14.5 percent compared to September 2011. In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 14.550 billion ($49.7 million), decreasing by 11 percent month on month and down 27 percent year on year.
 
In the January-September period of this year, CSC’s steel production volume totaled 6,285,127 metric tons, decreasing by 6.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the first three quarters, CSC's steel product sales volume amounted to 6,622,864 metric tons, down 4.8 percent year on year. In the first nine months of 2012, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 177.858 billion ($6 billion), down 12 percent year on year.
