Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in January this year its carbon steel sales volume amounted to 824,916 metric tons, rising 6.4 percent compared to December last year and accounting for 67 percent of domestic sales.

In January, CSC's operating revenues amounted to NTD 29.4 billion ($931.6 million), falling 2.45 percent compared to the previous month. In the given month, the company registered earnings before tax of NTD 2.64 billion ($83.6 million), increasing by 5.6 percent compared to December 2014.

CSC also announced that it will raise its stake in Vietnam-based steel company Formosa Ha Tinh, with an investment of $939 million. This will enable CSC to be more flexible in its investments in India, Southeast Asia and other surrounding regions in the future.
