CSC expects NTD 42 billion profit in 2004

Taiwanese steelmaker China Steel Corp (CSC) announced that it expects to record NTD 42 billion (approx. $1.2 billion) pre-tax profit in 2004. This figure is 6.7% lower than the NTD 45 billion (approx. $1.3 billion) forecasted for 2003. CSC estimates a revenue of NTD 128.9 billion (approx. $3.8 billion) for next year when compared to NTD 128.6 billion (approx. $3.7 billion) expected for 2003. The company's operating costs will increase to NTD 84.9 billion (approx. $2.5 billion) in 2004 from NTD 82.9 billion (approx. $2.4 billion) this year.
