Construction starts on new billet production project in Iranian province of Yazd

Construction of a mini-mill with a planned annual production capacity of one million mt of steel billet has commenced in the city of Abarkooh in the central Iranian province of Yazd, following a formal ceremony attended by  Mohammad Abasi, Iranian minister of cooperatives, on January 20, 2011.

The new steel billet plant will be built on an area of 150 hectares within a period of three years. A total investment of Iranian Rials 6 trillion (about $545 million) has been estimated for the project.
