Confidence increases in Italian construction so far in 2013

In February this year, the seasonally adjusted confidence index in the Italian construction sector increased from to 81.6, up 1.5 percent from 80.4 percent in January, following the minor uptick of one percent seen in January as compared to December, as announced by Istat, Italy's national statistics office.

In February, the index increased by 2.27 percent month on month in building construction, having fallen by 3.93 percent in January compared to December, while the index rose by 1.64 percent month on month in specialized construction works, which remains the sector in which the confidence index shows the highest value. Meanwhile, in February the confidence index for Italian civil engineering recorded a 5.7 percent month-on-month fall, regressing to the December level.
