Confidence in Italian manufacturing sector up slightly in March

The seasonally adjusted confidence index for the Italian manufacturing sector recorded a slight increase of 0.33 percent in March this year as compared to February, rising to 88.9 points, according to Istat, Italy’s national statistics office. In February, a similar increase had been witnessed as compared to January.
 
On month-on-month basis, inventories balances and assessments on order books stood still, while production expectations showed a minor uptick for the second month in a row.
 
In March, the confidence index fell by 1.7 percent for intermediate goods, while it rose by 0.65 percent for consumer goods and by 2.21 percent for instrumental goods, all month on month.
