Colombian iron and steel export volume up 35.3 percent in January-August

In the first eight months of 2018, Colombia exported 92,124 mt of ferronickel, up 35.5 percent, with a value of $391.6 million, increasing by 87.2 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In August this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 11,438 mt, decreasing by 47.4 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $52.94 million, down 17.2 percent, both compared to August 2017.

In the January-August period of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 167,139 mt, up 35.3 percent, with a value of $523.48 million, rising by 77.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In August, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 20,346 mt, decreasing by 31.8 percent, and were worth $71.67 million, down 8.4 percent, both compared to the same month of 2017.
