Colombian iron and steel export volume up 34.6 percent in Jan-Sept

In the first nine months of 2018, Colombia exported 103,407 mt of ferronickel, up 35.8 percent, with a value of $444.6 million, increasing by 89.4 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In September this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 11,283 mt, increasing by 38.2 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $53 million, up 106.6 percent, both compared to September 2017.

In the January-September period of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 187,477 mt, up 34.6 percent, with a value of $593.7 million, rising by 79 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In September, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 20,337 mt, increasing by 28.7 percent, and were worth $70.22 million, up 90.2 percent, both compared to the same month of 2017.
