Coal exports from PWCS down 23.8 percent in October from September

Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 7.08 million mt in October this year, decreasing by 23.8 percent compared to September, according to the company's announcement. 12 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in October was coking coal.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in October, with shipments to Japan accounting for 58.4 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 13.9 percent of the total. 

PWCS accounts for one third of Australia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
