CISA: China’s average daily crude steel switches to decline in late Oct

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has stated that in late October (Oct. 21-31) this year the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China totaled 1,519,500 mt, down 5.39 percent compared to mid-October (Oct. 11-20). In late October, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China was estimated at 1,925,700 mt, indicating a decrease of 3.67 percent compared with 1,999,000 mt in mid-October.

Following two consecutive increases in early October and mid-October, the average aggregate daily crude steel output of China’s steelmakers returned to a downtrend in late October. Market players have pointed out that the decline in crude steel output in late October is a reaction to weak downstream demand.

However, in the whole month of October, the average aggregate daily crude steel output of China’s steel producers stood at 1,958,000 mt, up 1.4 percent month on month.
