According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of October (October 31) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 121.72 points, up 0.08 points or 0.07 percent month on month, while increasing by 5.76 points or 4.97 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of October, the CSPI long steel index was at 131.93 points, up 2.27 points or 1.75 percent month on month and increasing by 11.83 points or 9.85 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 114.59 points, decreasing by 1.79 points or 1.54 percent month on month and up 1.06 points or 0.93 percent year on year.
As of the end of October, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar and angles increased by RMB 115/mt ($16.6/mt), RMB 116/mt ($16.7/mt) and RMB 20/mt ($2.9/mt), while prices of medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG) and hot rolled seamless pipe decreased by RMB 75/mt ($10.8/mt), RMB 94/mt ($13.5/mt), RMB 48/mt ($6.9/mt), RMB 28/mt ($4.1/mt) and RMB 22/mt ($3.2/mt), respectively, all compared to price levels at the end of September this year.
