According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of July (July 31) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 116.58 points, up 0.78 points or 0.67 percent month on month, while increasing by 10.09 points or 9.48 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of July, the CSPI long steel index was at 121.95 points, up 2.45 points or 2.05 percent month on month and increasing by 10.18 points or 9.11 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 114.25 points, decreasing by 0.49 points or 0.43 percent month on month and up 10.52 points or 10.14 percent year on year.
As of the end of July, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, and angles, increased by RMB 110/mt ($16.0/mt), RMB 126/mt ($18.3/mt), and RMB 32/mt ($4.7/mt), while prices of medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG) and hot rolled seamless pipe decreased by RMB 53/mt ($7.7/mt), RMB 22/mt ($3.2/mt), RMB 6/mt ($0.9/mt), RMB 48/mt ($7.0/mt) and RMB 11/mt ($1.6/mt), all compared to price levels at the end of June this year.
