According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of September (September 30) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 121.64 points, down 0.35 points or 0.29 percent month on month, while increasing by 7.82 points or 6.87 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of September, the CSPI long steel index was at 129.66 points, up 0.37 points or 0.29 percent month on month and increasing by 11.09 points or 9.35 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 116.38 points, decreasing by 1.11 points or 0.94 percent month on month and up 5.52 points or 4.98 percent year on year.
As of the end of September, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, cold rolled sheet (CRS) and hot rolled seamless pipe increased by RMB 28/mt ($4.1/mt), RMB 39/mt ($5.6/mt), RMB 26/mt ($3.8/mt) and RMB 86/mt ($12.4/mt), while prices of angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) decreased by RMB 53/mt ($7.6/mt), RMB 65/mt ($9.4/mt), RMB 72/mt ($10.4/mt) and RMB 18/mt ($2.6/mt), respectively, all compared to price levels at the end of August this year.
