One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, intends to deliver about 200,000-300,000 mt of large diameter pipes to Russia's biggest gas company Gazprom for the construction of its new big gas pipeline project Sakhalin-Habarovsk-Vadivostok, ChTPZ's director for quality management Valentin Tazetdinov has stated.

According to Mr. Tazetdinov, the pipe supplies are to be started in Q3-4 of 2009 and have to be completed within 12-18 months. The strips for ChTPZ's pipe production will be delivered by Ural Steel, the steel producing subsidiary of the Russian iron ore and steel producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest).

The value of the deal has yet to be announced.

The construction of Gazprom's Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline is to be launched in May 2009 and is to be finished by the end of 2011. The pipeline will have a capacity of 35 billion cubic meters of gas a year, and will be part of a united gas transportation system for Russia's Far East region.
