Chongqing Steel to overhaul medium plate plant

Local Chinese news sources disclose that Chongqing Steel will invest RMB 1.4 billion ($169 million) to renovate its medium plate production line and plant. The renovations will add 1.3 million tons of capacity to the medium plate plant, bringing its total capacity to three million tons. The plant mainly produces bridge and ship building plates. Of the RMB 1.4 billion set aside for renovations, RMB 1.2 billion will be used to overhaul the wide medium plate production line. After completion, the line’s annual productivity will be increased 800’000 tons to 1.8 million tons. Chongqing Steel will also invest RMB 200 million to renovate its heat-processing production line. The work will add 500’000 tons of new productivity to the unit, bringing its annual output to 1.2 million tons.
