Chinese steel sector’s industrial capacity usage down in Q3 from Q2

The capacity utilization rate of the ferrous metal smelting, rolling and processing industry in China was at 79.4 percent in the third quarter this year, up 0.7 percentage points year on year, but down 1.5 percentage points compared to the second quarter of the year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Total industrial capacity utilization in China in the third quarter was at 76.4 percent, down 0.1 percentage point year on year, though it was unchanged compared to the second quarter of the year.

In the first nine months of the year, the capacity utilization rate of the ferrous metal smelting, rolling and processing industry in China was at 79.9 percent, up 1.8 percentage points year on year.
