Chinese steel sector industrial output sees slower growth in October

In October this year, value-added industrial output in the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China posted a 6.3 percent increase year on year, 3.2 percentage points lower compared to September, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 4.7 percent year on year in October, with this growth rate 1.1 percentage points lower compared to that recorded in September, according to the same source.

In October this year, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 31 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output, but the pace of growth was down in many sectors. For example, outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors grew by 3.9 percent and 4.6 percent, down 4.2 percentage points and 1.0 percentage points respectively from the growth rates recorded in September.

In the first ten months of the year, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 5.6 percent year on year.
