Chinese shipbuilding firms’ gross profit down 27.3 percent in Jan-Aug

In the January-August period of the current year, the 80 medium-size and large shipbuilding enterprises in China realized an aggregate gross industrial output value of RMB 242.7 billion ($35.5 billion), down 6.3 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).

In the given period, the shipbuilding enterprises in question achieved aggregate exports totaling RMB 88.9 billion ($13.1 billion) in value, down 9.3 percent year on year.

In the January-August period this year, the shipbuilding enterprises recorded an aggregate operating revenue of RMB 168.0 billion ($24.6 billion),  down 6.6 percent, and a total gross profit of RMB 1.6 billion ($0.23 billion), decreasing by 27.3 percent, both year on year.
