Chinese Baosteel to focus on exports in 2003

Market sources report that Chinese mill Baosteel is targeting over 200'000 mts of hot rolled steel coils export for 2003. The mill has been one of the major suppliers of API grade hot rolled steel coils to Turkish market during the recent years and is aiming to export 50'000 mts of API grade material to Europe next year. Of course Turkey will be the main target market to reach that level. Other than API grade material, the Chinese mill is targeting to export 70'000-80'000 mts of Silicon Steel mainly for Italian, South East Asian and Hong Kong markets during 2003.
