China’s foreign trade value down 1.1 percent in January-April

In the January-April period this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $1.4 trillion, indicating a year-on-year decline of 1.1 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on May 8. In the given period, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $744.61 billion, increasing by 0.2 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $655.21 billion in value, declining by 2.5 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $89.4 billion.

In April, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $37.314 million, up 0.4 percent year on year. In particular, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $193.49 billion, decreasing by 2.7 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $179.65 billion in value, rising by 4.0 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $13.84 billion.
