In January this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 100,000 mt, 30,000 mt, 1,000,000 mt and 30,000 mt, up 4.9 percent, down 21.3 percent, remaining stable and down 17.8 percent year on year, respectively, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in January China imported 1.18 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 1.0 percent year on year.
