In October this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, steel plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 90,000 mt, 970,000 mt and 30,000 mt, up 3.3 percent, 23.8 percent and 6.9 percent year on year, respectively, while its import volume of angles/channels amounted to 30,000 mt, down 19.4 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.
In the January-October period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, and angles/channels respectively amounted to 910,000 mt and 300,000 mt, down 9.2 percent and 11.0 percent year on year, while its imports of steel plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles totaled 9.37 million mt and 340,000 mt, up 2.9 percent and 1.6 percent year on year.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in October China imported 1.14 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 19.6 percent year on year. In the January-October period of this year, China imported 11.10 million mt of finished steel, up 1.3 percent year on year.
