China’s steel bar exports down 61.9 percent in January-October

In October this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 0.99 million mt, 180,000 mt, 2.87 million mt and 160,000 mt, respectively declining by 63.8 percent, 52.5 percent, 17.1 percent and 12.4 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-October period this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod totaled 13.98 million mt, 2.95 million mt, 37.0 million mt, and 1.74 million mt, decreasing by 61.9 percent, 31.2 percent, 7.4 percent and 9.5 percent, respectively, year on year.

In October this year, China exported 4.98 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 35.2 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the first ten months of the year totaled 64.49 million mt, down 30.4 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
