China’s steel bar exports down 61.6 percent in January-September

In September this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 0.95 million mt, 230,000 mt, 3.01 million mt and 160,000 mt, respectively declining by 68.0 percent, 40.9 percent, 29.2 percent and 16.3 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-September period this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod totaled 13.05 million mt, 2.77 million mt, 34.15 million mt, and 1.58 million mt, decreasing by 61.6 percent, 28.8 percent, 6.4 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively, year on year.

In September this year, China exported 5.14 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 41.4 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the first nine months of the year totaled 59.60 million mt, down 29.8 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
