China’s steel bar exports down 52.1 percent in January-February

In February this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars and steel plate amounted to 960,000 mt, and 3.13 million mt, respectively, declining by 40.6 percent and 14.5 percent, while its export volumes of angles/channels and wire rod amounted to 250,000 mt and 140,000 mt, up 3.1 percent and 30.3 percent year on year, respectively, according to the Chinese customs authorities. 

In the January-February period of the current year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels and steel plate totaled 1.69 million mt, 530,000 mt, and 5.32 million mt, decreasing by 52.1 percent, 18.7 percent and 25.2 percent, respectively, year on year, while its export volumes of wire rod amounted to 320,000 mt, up 18.1 percent year on year in the given period.

In February, China exported 4.85 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 14.9 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-February period of the current year totaled 9.5 million mt, down 27.1 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
