China’s steel bar exports down 19.2 percent in January-October

In October this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars and wire rod amounted to 0.89 million mt and 150,000 mt, down 9.8 percent and 2.1 percent year on year, respectively, while export volumes of angles/channels and steel plate amounted to 280,000 mt and 3.3 million mt, increasing by 51.1 percent and 15.0 percent year on year, respectively, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-October period of the current year, China's export volume of angles/channels amounted to 2.94 million mt, up 0.1 percent year on year, while export volumes of steel bars, steel plate and wire rod totaled 11.28 million mt, 33.71 million mt and 1.71 million mt, down 19.2 percent, 8.8 percent and 1.3 percent year on year, respectively. 

In October, China exported 5.5 million mt of finished steel, up 10.4 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-October period of the current year totaled 58.413 million mt, down 9.3 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
