In the January-July period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 29.78 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 55.1 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 13.24 million dwt, decreasing by 25.1 percent year on year. As of the end of July, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 80.28 million dwt, down 31.5 percent year on year and decreasing by 19.4 percent compared to the end of 2016.
In the January-July period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 28.05 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 59.6 percent year on year and accounting for 94.2 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 11.90 million dwt, decreasing by 18.4 percent year on year and constituting 89.9 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of July, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 74.50 million dwt, down 32.2 percent year on year and constituting 92.8 percent of total ship orders
on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
