In the January-November period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 32.65 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 16 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
In the given period, China's new ship orders amounted to 56.76 million dwt, up 9.4 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 152.33 million dwt, up 27.8 percent year on year and rising by 16.3 percent compared to the end of 2013.
In the January-November period, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 28.04 million dwt, down 13.5 percent year on year and accounting for 85.9 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China's new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 53.24 million dwt, up 10.8 percent year on year and constituting 93.8 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 145.48 million dwt, up 38.9 percent year on year and constituting 95.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
