China’s Shandong Province announces steel production capacity cuts

The eastern Chinese province of Shandong has announced new targets to cut steel and coal production capacity, according to Reuters.

Shandong will cut pig iron production capacity by 600,000 mt and crude steel output capacity by 3.55 million mt by the end of this year, under the scope of a three-year plan. Meanwhile, coal production capacity will be reduced from 156 million mt to 140 million mt by 2020.
