China’s scrap exports total 1,386,883 mt in January-September

In September this year, China exported 508,120 mt of scrap, indicating a huge surge compared to just 86 mt of scrap exports in September 2016, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-September period of the current year, China exported 1,386,883 mt of scrap, compared to just 812 mt of scrap exports in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, China imported 150,000 mt of scrap in September this year, while it had imported 180,000 mt of scrap in September last year. In January-September of this year, China imported 1.74 million mt of scrap, up 13.9 percent from 1.53 million mt of scrap in the same period of last year.
