China’s scrap exports amount to 323,750 mt in January-May

In May this year, China exported 76,033 mt of steel scrap, down 5.1 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In the January-May period of this year, China exported 323,750 mt of scrap, up 237.3 percent compared to 96,426 mt in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, China imported 200,000 mt of scrap in May, down 8.4 percent year on year. In the January-May period, China's scrap imports totaled 780,000 mt, decreasing by 31.2 percent year on year.
