China’s retail sales of consumer goods up 8.1 percent in January-May

In the January-May period this year, China’s total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to RMB 16.1332 trillion ($2.3 trillion), up 8.1 percent year on year, as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In May alone, China’s total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to RMB 3.2956 trillion ($0.48 trillion), rising by 8.6 percent year on year.

In particular, in the first five months this year, total automotive vehicle sales in China came to a value of RMB 1.5423 trillion ($0.22 trillion), decreasing by 2.0 percent year on year.
