China’s PPI down 1.9% in March, CPI up 2.1%

In March this year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 1.9 percent compared to March 2012 and remained stable month on month, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Meanwhile, in March this year domestic industrial producers' purchase prices saw a decline of 2.0 percent compared with March 2012 and registered a decrease of 0.1 percent on month-on-month basis. In March, among industrial producers' purchase prices, prices of ferrous metal saw a year-on-year decline of 5.0 percent.
 
During the January-March period, China's average producer price index (PPI) decreased by 1.7 percent and domestic industrial producers' purchase prices declined by 1.9 percent, both year on year.
 
In addition, China's consumer price index (CPI) in March rose by 2.1 percent year on year and decreased by 0.9 percent month on month.
