On December 3, an official at China's Ministry of Land and Resources again emphasized that official land policies would be implemented and land supply curbed for the purpose of facilitating the structural adjustment of certain industries.

In order to deal with the effects of the international financial crisis, China has issued a number of economic stimulus measures aimed at expanding domestic demand and boosting economic growth. So far, the stimulus package has shown an impact, with a gradual recovery observed in the economic situation. However, problems of excessive capacity have become evident in many industries.

It is reported that projects in the steel industry, non-ferrous metal industry and building material industry have been added to the list of projects subject to restricted land use.
