China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is currently reexamining the iron ore import qualifications of Chinese enterprises with the full cooperation of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

Currently, the relevant authorities are formulating new criteria for iron ore importers with the aim of reducing the number of iron ore importers. The criteria in question have not yet been fully finalized.

According to industry reports, senior MIIT official Chen Yanhai lately declared that China will regulate its iron ore imports in order to promote the healthy development of the raw materials sector.
