China’s iron ore output up in May

According to the latest statistics, China's total iron ore output increased 28.7% year on year to 31.87 million tons in May 2005. Total iron ore production through the first five months amounted to 138.61 million tons, a 24.1% year-on-year increase. Hebei province, accounted for one third of the production in China, produced 10.68 million tons of iron ore in May, a 41.3% increase. For the first five months, Hebei's iron ore production rose 45.4% year-on-year to 44.91 million tons. Liaoning province followed Hebei, producing 6.8 million tons of iron ore in May, up 24.7% year on year. Liaoning's total iron ore production for the first five months increased 23.7% year on year to 30.12 million tons.
