According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in September this year China’s iron ore production amounted to 77.371 million mt, increasing by 4.14 percent month on month, up 8.5 percent year on year. However, analysts do not think that the rising trend in China’s iron ore production will continue in the long term due to the declines seen in import iron ore prices and stricter environmental protection measures.

In the January-September period of the current year, China produced 634.499 million mt of iron ore, rising by 5.9 percent year on year, 0.2 percentage points lower than the growth rate recorded in the January-August period.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, China imported 784.136 million mt of iron ore in the January-September period of the year, down 2.4 percent year on year due to disruptions in shipments from Brazil and Australia earlier this year.
