China’s iron ore imports increase by 7.1 percent in January-September

In September this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 102.83 million mt, up 16.0 percent month on month and increasing by 10.6 percent year on year, while in the January-September period this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron oreconcentrate totaled 816.72 million mt, up 7.1 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on October 13. 

In September this year, China imported 1.24 million mt of finished steel, up 25.25 percent month on month and increasing by 9.7 percent year on year. In the January-September period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 10.01 million mt, rising by 1.8 percent year on year.
