China’s iron ore imports decrease by 3.5 percent in January-March

In the January-March period of this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 260.789 million mt, down 3.5 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on April 12.

In the first three months of the year, China imported 2.897 million mt of finished steel, down 16.1 percent year on year.

In March alone, China imported 86.424 million mt of iron ore and iron ore concentrate, up 0.7 percent year on year, while it imported 899,000 mt of finished steel, down 27.1 percent year on year.
