China’s foreign trade value up 16.3 percent in January-March

In March this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $353.226 billion, indicating a year-on-year rise of 5.3 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on April 13. In the given month, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $174.121 billion, decreasing by 2.7 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $179.104 billion in value, rising by 14.4 percent year on year, resulting in a trade deficit of $4.983 billion.

In the January-March period of the current year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $1042.146 billion, up 16.3 percent year on year. In the given period, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $545.266 billion, up 14.1 percent, while the value of its imports rose by 18.9 percent year on year to $496.879 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $48.387 billion in the given period.
