China’s foreign trade exceeds $500 billion in 5 months

According to the latest statistics from Chinese customs, China's foreign trade jumped 23.2% year on year to $522.78 billion in the first five months of 2005. Exports accounted for $276.4 billion (up 33.2% year on year) of total foreign trade, while imports reached $246.38 billion (up 13.7%). In the manufacturing sector specifically, exports increased 29.4% to $148.84 billion and imports rose 29.4% to $99.37 billion. The EU, US and Japan continue to remain as China's top trading partners. Trade rose 24.2% to $81.84 billion with the EU, 24.6% to $77.7 billion with the US, and 10.1% to $70.72 billion with Japan.
