China’s finished steel exports up 28.2 percent in January-May

In May this year, China exported 9.20 million mt of finished steel, up 14.1 percent year on year, while the total finished steel export volume in the January-May period of the current year was 43.52 million mt, rising by 28.2 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities.

In May this year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 3.51 million mt, 520,000 mt, 210,000 mt, and 3.93 million mt, rising by 46.0 percent, 5.9 percent, 8.6 percent, and 3.0 percent, respectively, year on year. In the January-May period this year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 15.13 million mt, 2.23 million mt, 950,000 mt, and 20.04 million mt, increasing by 49.1 percent, 7.9 percent, 17.0 percent and 24.7 percent, respectively, year on year.
