According to the data released by South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI), China’s finished steel exports to ASEAN-6 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) in the January-November period of 2018 decreased by one percent year on year. The country’s long product exports to ASEAN-6 countries in the given period declined by 12 percent, while its flat product exports to the same destination increased by three percent, both year on year.
China’s exports of steel sections to ASEAN-6 countries in the first 11 months of 2018 rose by 13.6 percent to 944,783 mt, while its steel bar exports to this region were down by 24 percent to approximately 1.75 million mt, both year on year. China’s exports of wire rod to these countries in the given period dropped by 6.5 percent year on year to 2.62 million mt. Exports of welded pipe, on the other hand, increased by 6.1 percent year on year to reach 734,577 mt.
In the January-November period of 2018, China’s exports of hot rolled coil (HRC) to the region declined by 8.3 percent to 4.08 million mt, while cold rolled coil (CRC) exports were up by 11.9 percent to 1.3 million mt, both year on year.
