In September, China exported 5.53 million mt of finished steel, down 7.1 percent year on year, while up by 10.5 percent compared to the previous month, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on October 14. Chinese exporters cut their export offer prices in September amid better demand in global market contributed to the rises in its export volume in the given month compared to August.

In the January-September period of the year, China exported 50.30 million mt of finished steel, down five percent year on year.

However, the export shipments in October-November are unlikely to increase compared to September as relatively firm demand in the domestic market and tight competition abroad led to less competitiveness of Chinese steel in the international market recently.
