China’s FAI in railways increases in H1 owing to strong Q2

Fixed asset investment in railways in China amounted to RMB 325.8 billion ($46.1 billion) in the first half this year, increasing by 1.2 percent year on year. In particular, the FAI in national railway construction amounted to RMB 245.1 billion ($34.7 billion), up 3.7 percent year on year. In the current year up to July 1, 1,178 kilometers of new railway lines were put into operation, including 605 kilometers of high-speed railway.

In the first quarter this year, FAI in railway construction totaled RMB 79.9 billion ($11.3 billion), down 21 percent year on year, while in the second quarter FAI in railway construction amounted to RMB 245.9 billion ($34.8 billion), up 11.4 percent year on year.
