In March this year, excavator sales in China increased to 49,408 units, up 11.59 percent year on year, while seeing a sharp rise compared to 9,280 units recorded in February, as announced by the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA). China’s excavator sales rose sharply in March due to the effective control of the coronavirus pandemic, while sales are expected to improve further in April due to further resumption of production by downstream industry.

In March, excavator sales in the domestic market amounted to 46,610 units, up 11.24 percent year on year, while sales to the export market totaled 2,798 units, up 17.71 percent year on year.

New construction activities in rural areas have contributed to the rapid growth of excavator sales, especially sales of small-size excavators, as rural areas have been less affected by Covid-19. With the increased resumption of activities of key projects and the promotion of real estate projects, sales of medium-size excavators in China are expected to increase in April.
