China’s common slab exports blow past imports
China was a net exporter of more than two million tons of common
slab in the first half of 2005.
China exported 279'358 tons of common slabs in June and 2.46 million tons through June of this year, significantly beating the June and first half import numbers.
China imported 50'045 tons of common
slab in June and 423'983 tons in the first half of 2005.
Taiwan accounted for 30% (736'340 tons) of
China's common
slab exports in the first half.
Thailand (655'320 tons), South
Korea (396.516 tons),
Indonesia (172'780 tons) and
Malaysia (162'924 tons) were other major markets for common
slab from
China.
In the other direction,
Brazil accounted for approximately 44% (185'679 tons) of
China's total common
slab imports in the first half.
Ukraine (44'917 tons),
Mexico (38'207 tons),
Venezuela (34'883 tons), England (34'745 tons) and
Kazakhstan (27'923 tons) were other major exporters of common
slab during the first half.
